Yesterday, on my way home from lab after a hard days work, I went to B&N. Why? Simple. To read the TPB's, specifically this one and this one, well, not the whole things just enough to determine if they were good or not. One was one I'm still on the fence about since they didn't have the first TPB and the art was meh at best. Although better than mine. To the point.
I'm standing there looking at the tpb's and graphic novels and this guys says "Big comic fan huh?" My normal response to something like this would be to blow it off and go elsewhere, but for some reason I did something out of character and actually responded politely. Two hours later I learned of the captain america/batman fight, how jim (that's the strangers name) doesn't like Bats or supes, he's mainly a marvel guy who just recently got into it, didn't like Avengers Disassembled, Loves Lord of the Rings, likes the Ultimates and just recently read Ultimates vol 2 #3, himed and hawed at basically at everything I had to say (or so it seemed). Man, third time I was interrupted while writing this, I have as a consequence lost my momentum. taking where we left off ... , hadn't read Dune, or Conan by REH of course, seemed surprised I was married (I'll try not to take offense), apparently had children, learned I'm a grad student and does what I do: go to physical book stores to look at and read books so we can buy them cheaper online. Sigh, there was more but as I said "I've lost momentum".
